Design Engineer – Build & Design Software

About the role

As a Design Engineer at Ashby you will bridge the gap between product design and engineering, turning visual concepts into functional, data‑driven software. You will work closely with customers, product managers, and fellow engineers to iterate on UI/UX ideas, prototype in code, and ship features that improve the productivity of talent teams.

Key responsibilities

• Redesign the mobile web app by gathering user feedback, creating wireframes, and implementing the updated design system.
• Build flexible, composable React components for custom autocompletes, supporting filters and record creation.
• Consult with engineers on improving information hierarchy and scannability of candidate assessment views.
• Expand and maintain Ashby’s in‑house design system, ensuring consistency across products.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to translate design concepts into production‑ready code.

Required profile

• Passionate about both design and development, with a strong eye for detail.
• Enjoys iterating quickly, testing ideas with real users, and refining based on feedback.
• Comfortable working in a fast‑growing SaaS environment serving enterprise customers.

Required skills

• Proficiency with React and component‑based development.
• Experience using Figma for wireframing and visual design.
• Hands‑on experience building and maintaining design systems.
