Hotel Maintenance Assistant

About the role

The Tower Hotel in Waterford City is looking for a dedicated Maintenance Assistant to join the Neville Hotel Group. You will help keep the property safe, comfortable and welcoming by performing both planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out general maintenance tasks throughout the hotel, both inside and outside.
• Perform planned preventative maintenance and respond quickly to reactive repair requests.
• Handle plumbing repairs on toilets, showers, sinks and other fixtures.
• Execute basic electrical work such as changing spotlights, fittings and transformers.
• Undertake painting, decorating and general repair work.
• Perform basic carpentry and joinery repairs on furniture, fixtures and doors.
• Assist with mechanical and electrical planned maintenance duties.
• Identify and report maintenance issues across the property.
• Collaborate with all hotel departments to ensure efficient completion of requests.
• Follow Neville Hotels standards, security procedures, fire regulations and health & safety legislation.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a maintenance role, preferably in a hotel or similar environment.
• Good working knowledge of general maintenance, plumbing, electrics, decorating, tiling and carpentry.
• Enthusiastic, motivated and able to work well under pressure.
• Strong initiative, attention to detail and pride in high standards.
• Effective workload prioritisation and professional communication with guests and colleagues.
• Solid understanding of workplace health & safety requirements.
• Flexibility to support business needs.
