About the role
The Resident Medical Officer (RMO) provides continuous inpatient care, acting as the primary medical contact during each shift and supporting senior consultants in emergencies. This position ensures 24/7 clinical coverage and offers valuable exposure to hospital operations.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct morning and evening ward rounds, monitor vital signs, and perform initial assessments of new admissions.
- Administer medications, order and interpret diagnostic tests (lab work, X‑rays), and perform minor procedures such as phlebotomy and IV line insertion.
- Respond promptly to code‑blue and other emergency situations, delivering immediate resuscitation until a specialist arrives.
- Maintain accurate patient records, including case histories, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
- Coordinate care plans by liaising with nursing staff, allied health professionals, patients, and consultants.
- Assist senior doctors during surgeries, complex procedures, and specialist rounds.
- Ensure compliance with hospital protocols, safety standards, and medical ethics, and support administrative tasks as needed.
Required profile
- Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
- Mandatory registration with the relevant medical council (e.g., DMC).
- At least 1 year of experience in a large tertiary‑care hospital is preferred.
- Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
