Senior Buyer – M&E Procurement

About the role

Our client, a leading Irish contractor, is seeking an experienced Senior Buyer to lead procurement for major Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) packages across high‑profile projects in Ireland and Europe. You will ensure materials, plant and subcontract services are sourced competitively, delivered on schedule and aligned with commercial and technical requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Lead procurement activities for M&E materials, equipment, plant and subcontract packages across multiple projects.
• Source and manage suppliers and subcontractors in line with budgets, programme requirements and technical specifications.
• Prepare and issue RFQs/RFPs, evaluate quotations, negotiate pricing and secure commercially advantageous agreements.
• Coordinate procurement schedules to guarantee timely delivery to site.
• Maintain supplier relationships, monitor performance, lead times, quality and commercial compliance.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers and commercial teams on procurement planning and execution.
• Support cost‑saving initiatives, value‑engineering opportunities and supply‑chain optimisation.
• Ensure compliance with governance, contractual obligations and health & safety standards.

Required profile

• Significant buying or procurement experience within M&E contracting, construction or mission‑critical sectors.
• Proven ability to manage complex supplier relationships and negotiate contracts.
• Strong understanding of project budgets, programmes and technical specifications.
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to market trends.
