Senior Traffic Management Designer

About the role

GMC is seeking an experienced Senior Traffic Management Designer to join its Traffic Management department. You will play a key part in designing, planning and delivering traffic management and engineering solutions for a variety of infrastructure and utility projects across Ireland.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare temporary traffic management layouts, plans and permanent design drawings.
• Develop designs that comply with Irish standards, including the Traffic Signs Manual.
• Produce detailed CAD drawings, sketches and construction‑ready documentation.
• Assist with traffic impact assessments and design reviews.
• Liaise with project managers, site teams, local authorities and clients.
• Ensure all designs meet health & safety, environmental and quality requirements.
• Provide technical input during project planning and construction phases.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in traffic design or traffic engineering.
• Strong knowledge of Irish traffic and road design standards.
• Experience with temporary traffic management on live construction sites.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Full driving licence.

• AutoCAD (essential)
• Civil 3D (advantageous)
