Advanced Scaffolder – General Operative Band 1

About the role

The Office of Public Works is seeking an Advanced Scaffolder (General Operative Band 1) to join its Kilkenny National Monuments District team. The role is based at the National Monuments Depot in Hebron Industrial Estate, Kilkenny, and involves delivering safe and compliant scaffolding solutions for heritage and construction projects.

Key responsibilities

• Erect, modify, and dismantle scaffolding structures in accordance with OPW standards and health‑and‑safety regulations.
• Carry out routine inspections and maintenance of scaffolding components to ensure ongoing safety.
• Coordinate the delivery and storage of scaffolding materials on site.
• Collaborate with site managers and other trades to support project timelines.
• Adhere to all relevant legislation, including CSCS and Safepass requirements.

Required profile

• Valid CSCS Advanced Scaffolding Card.
• Full, clean, current Category B driving licence (automatic transmission licences are not accepted).
• Minimum 12 months on‑site scaffolding experience post‑qualification.
• Current Safepass card (or proof of successful course completion before the closing date).
• Citizenship or work‑permit eligibility as outlined (EEA, UK, Switzerland, or valid Irish work permit).

Required skills

• Advanced scaffolding techniques and safety practices.
• CSCS Advanced Scaffolding certification.
• Safepass certification.
• Category B driving licence (C1 licence is desirable).
