Civil Structural Engineer – Bridge Inspection (Ireland)

About the role

We are seeking a Civil Structural Engineer to join our Structural Inspection Department in Ireland. The role offers hands‑on experience in bridge and structural inspections, working with advanced geospatial technologies and under the mentorship of a Chartered Engineer.

Key responsibilities

• Perform bridge and structural inspections using a range of technologies and access methods.
• Assist the Project Manager in coordinating inspection programmes and subcontractors.
• Conduct waterway inspections and surveys using boats and specialised equipment.
• Carry out rope‑access (abseiling) inspections where required.
• Execute underwater inspections with Remote Operated Vehicles (ROV).
• Apply Non‑Destructive Testing (NDT) methods and equipment.
• Handle, process and interpret geospatial and inspection data.
• Prepare detailed technical structural inspection reports.

Required profile

• BSc degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or equivalent experience (3+ years).
• Fundamental knowledge of bridge types, loadings and inspection practices.
• Strong written communication skills in English.
• Legal right to work in Ireland and a clean full driving licence.
• Willingness to travel nationwide and work at heights or confined spaces (training provided).
