Commercial Director – Ireland Market Entry

About the role

The Commercial Director will lead the market entry and long‑term commercial development of a global specialty chemicals business in Ireland. Reporting to senior leadership, the role combines commercial strategy, technical engagement and market development to build relationships with pharmaceutical manufacturers, CDMOs/CMOs and specialty chemical distributors.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the commercial strategy for the Irish market.
• Establish early‑stage relationships with pharma manufacturers, CDMOs/CMOs and specialty chemical distributors.
• Lead market entry activities for specialty chemicals and intermediates, building trust and credibility.
• Progress accounts toward CDMO and custom synthesis opportunities.
• Act as the commercial and technical interface with customers, providing market insight on pricing, regulation and supply‑chain trends.
• Collaborate closely with global technical, supply‑chain and compliance teams.
• Represent the business at customer meetings and industry events.
• Support the development of local capability as the market expands.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience in business development, technical sales or commercial leadership within chemicals, pharma, CDMO or related industries.
• Strong technical background in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or a related field.
• Proven ability to build trusted relationships in complex technical B2B environments.
• Commercial acumen with both strategic and hands‑on capability.
• Entrepreneurial mindset and experience operating in growth or build‑out environments.
• Excellent communication skills to translate technical capability into commercial value.
