Conservation Architect – Heritage Projects

About the role

We are recruiting two architects to lead conservation, refurbishment and fit‑out projects for iconic State‑owned buildings in Ireland, such as Dublin Castle, the Custom House and the National Museum of Ireland. This role combines design, project management and on‑site coordination to preserve and re‑imagine the nation’s heritage.

Key responsibilities

• Lead conservation, refurbishment, fit‑out and maintenance projects on landmark State‑owned buildings.
• Collaborate with specialist craftspeople on historic joinery, plasterwork and metalwork.
• Produce high‑quality AutoCAD drawings and contract documentation.
• Drive projects from concept through to completion, managing both office and on‑site activities.
• Work alongside a skilled design team to safeguard and reimagine Ireland’s treasured structures.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years post‑graduation experience, including project/site management.
• Strong design and drawing abilities with proven proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Genuine passion for historic buildings and a desire to contribute to their conservation.
• Post‑graduate qualification in building conservation or at least 2 years experience with historic buildings, monuments or protected structures.
• Experience on public or government buildings is a plus.
• Hands‑on involvement in building conservation projects and ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.

What we offer

• Initial 1‑year fixed‑term contract with extensions up to 3–4 years.
• Hybrid working options (based in Dublin or Trim).
