Construction Planner – Project Scheduling Specialist

About the role

The Planner/Scheduler will develop, manage and maintain project schedules for construction projects, ensuring timely delivery within budget and quality standards. Working closely with project teams, subcontractors and clients, the role optimises timelines, resources and risk mitigation.

Key responsibilities

• Produce clear tender‑stage construction schedules and narrative submissions under tight deadlines.
• Develop and maintain detailed construction schedules using MS Project, Primavera P6 and, where advantageous, Asta Powerproject.
• Break down project scope into work packages and align schedules with project objectives.
• Track progress against baseline, perform critical‑path analysis and report deviations.
• Coordinate with project managers, site teams and subcontractors to gather schedule data and facilitate progress meetings.
• Identify scheduling risks, develop mitigation strategies and assess impacts of scope changes.
• Prepare reports such as Gantt charts, S‑curves and project dashboards for stakeholders.
• Support continuous improvement by sharing lessons learned and best‑practice planning methods.

Required profile

• Proficiency with scheduling software (Primavera P6, MS Project, Asta Powerproject).
• Strong understanding of Irish construction methods, sequencing and resource management.
• Knowledge of project management principles such as critical‑path method and earned‑value analysis.
• Ability to analyse complex data, identify trends and propose corrective actions.
• High attention to detail and accuracy in schedules and reports.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Team‑oriented, proactive and adaptable to fast‑paced construction environments.
