Counsellor for Youth (12-18) – Tallaght

About the role

Crosscare is seeking a part‑time Counsellor to work with young people aged 12‑18 and their families in Tallaght. The role involves delivering individual and group therapy, supporting parents, and contributing to a person‑centred care service within a charitable social‑care organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one counselling and, when required, group therapy for clients aged 12‑18.
• Offer parental support and conduct comprehensive assessments of presenting issues.
• Manage a caseload under supervision, monitor progress and evaluate outcomes.
• Facilitate therapeutic groups and refer clients to self‑help or community initiatives.
• Develop and maintain clinical partnerships with other professionals.
• Report child‑protection concerns in line with “Children First” guidelines.
• Participate in out‑of‑hours work and new service initiatives as needed.

Required profile

• 2‑year diploma in Counselling or Psychotherapy with accreditation from a recognised professional body (ACI, IACP, IHIP, etc.).
• Minimum two years’ experience managing a caseload under supervision.
• Demonstrated competence in person‑centred and integrative therapeutic approaches.
• Strong knowledge of assessment, treatment planning and child‑protection procedures.
