Director of Grid Connections

About the role

EirGrid is seeking a Director of Grid Connections to lead the delivery of customer connections to Ireland’s transmission system. Reporting to the Chief Infrastructure Officer, the role will oversee regional connection projects and the Connections & Contracts function during a period of rapid growth.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership across three regional Connection Project functions and the Connections & Contracts function, ensuring high performance and alignment with EirGrid’s delivery priorities.
• Develop and implement an operating model that improves consistency, efficiency, control, and delivery of customer connection projects.
• Oversee the transformation of the customer connections portfolio, prioritising delivery, governing robustly, and managing milestones, risks and dependencies.
• Lead the Connections & Contracts team to ensure timely processing of grid connection applications and the execution of connection agreements.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in electricity transmission, grid connections or related infrastructure sectors.
• Demonstrated ability to bring structure, discipline, visibility and momentum to large‑scale delivery programmes.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and governance skills, with experience managing regional project functions.
