Facilities Manager – Temporary Healthcare Role

About the role

This temporary senior role leads the delivery of facilities, estates, engineering, maintenance, security, waste management, biomedical equipment and capital projects for a busy healthcare provider. Reporting to the Director of Finance, you will provide strategic and operational leadership to ensure the organisation’s infrastructure meets the highest standards of safety, efficiency and patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage all facilities and maintenance operations, including Building Management Systems, medical gas, emergency, HVAC, boiler/chiller and electrical/mechanical services.
• Develop and oversee planned preventative maintenance programmes and manage budgets, inventories and asset replacement planning.
• Monitor energy consumption and drive energy‑efficiency initiatives while ensuring statutory and regulatory compliance.
• Define project scopes, budgets and specifications; manage procurement, tendering and delivery of capital projects from design to handover.
• Lead waste segregation, recycling and environmental sustainability programmes and manage waste service contracts.
• Maintain security systems (CCTV, alarms), manage security contractors and develop policies and training.
• Oversee biomedical equipment maintenance, service contracts and asset registers, advising on procurement and lifecycle planning.
• Lead, motivate and develop multidisciplinary facilities teams.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in facilities management, preferably within a healthcare environment.
• Strong ability to balance day‑to‑day operational demands with long‑term estate planning.
• Demonstrated experience managing large budgets, contracts and capital projects.
• Excellent knowledge of health and safety, regulatory compliance and sustainability practices.
