Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

Veolia is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join its expanding Water division in Kilkenny. You will work on a variety of water and wastewater treatment projects across Ireland, focusing on mechanical equipment selection, hydraulic system design, and drawing development.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Senior Design Engineer and wider design team to deliver end‑to‑end projects.
• Engage with clients from concept through to final delivery, ensuring compliance with specifications and engineering standards.
• Perform detailed design calculations, select appropriate equipment, and develop P&IDs and design drawings alongside the drawing team.
• Provide technical guidance on equipment selection and support procurement activities.
• Manage project documentation in line with the Project Quality Plan.

Required profile

• Level 7/8/9 qualification in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience in the water industry is desirable.
• Ability to work collaboratively with project managers, design leads, and sub‑consultants.
