Senior Application Support Engineer - SQL/UNIX

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Application Support Engineer to join a production support team for an international banking client. The role is based in Letterkenny, Ireland, operating in a hybrid model (3 days onsite) and will involve supporting critical banking applications across the EU market.

Key responsibilities

• Manage stakeholder relationships for supported applications.
• Troubleshoot and resolve incidents and service requests, both reactive and proactive.
• Perform root‑cause analysis on problem tickets.
• Own incident queues, intake channels and communication with customers.
• Write reusable knowledge articles and maintain accurate case documentation.
• Coordinate with internal support groups and lead the team when required.
• Provide flexible coverage from 7 am to 7 pm, including occasional weekend work.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a production/application support role.
• Strong hands‑on experience with SQL, Unix and shell scripting.
• Familiarity with monitoring tools (Geneos, Grafana, Splunk) and scheduling tools (Control‑M, cron).
• Knowledge of ITIL‑based processes such as Incident and Change Management.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
