Truck & Heavy Equipment Mechanic – Quarry Plant (Ireland)

About the role

We are a medium‑sized haulage company with quarry operations in North Dublin, seeking an experienced HGV/Heavy Equipment Mechanic. You will be responsible for keeping our quarry plant and machinery running smoothly, ensuring safety compliance and maximum uptime.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect, service, maintain and repair crushers, screeners, loading shovels, dumpers and excavators.
• Diagnose and fix mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults on heavy diesel‑powered equipment using appropriate diagnostic tools.
• Carry out scheduled preventive maintenance to reduce breakdowns and extend equipment life.
• Respond quickly to plant breakdowns and perform emergency repairs to minimise downtime.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, service histories and parts usage documentation.
• Coordinate maintenance schedules with quarry and operations teams.
• Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations in a quarry environment.
• Keep the workshop and tooling area clean, organised and safe.

Required profile

• Red Seal qualification in Diesel Mechanic or Earthmoving Mechanic.
• Minimum 2 years post‑qualification experience maintaining heavy plant, fleet vehicles and diesel machinery.
• Experience with quarry machinery (crushers, screeners, excavators, etc.) is a strong advantage.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a small maintenance team.
• Proactive, reliable and committed to high workmanship standards.
• Willingness to work a minimum 39‑hour week with flexibility to meet operational needs.
